In this webinar, we will discuss ways to improve rates of exclusive breastfeeding during the postpartum hospital stay by implementing a new role of dedicated neonatal assessment nurse (NAN), whose primary function is neonatal care beginning immediately after birth.

Follow how one hospital quality improvement took its exclusive breastfeeding rate from 50% to 83%.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • Address strategies to improve breastfeeding exclusivity by increasing skin-to-skin care immediately after delivery
  • Learn how to implement the role of a dedicated baby nurse, whose primary responsibility is the newborn
  • How to train Mother Baby/NICU RNs in the role of neonatal assessment nurse (NAN) to transition the newborn.
